Think the World of You

Think the World of You

I live my life like a chess player
Trying to think six moves ahead
You heard I became a ladies man
Have you listened to a word I’ve said?
My arrogance leads precaution every night to empty bed
So don’t tell me that – you know just what I really want to do
When I say that
I think the world of you

Feel like an exile in my hometown
One that nobody showed the door
I didn’t know how they were joking
I just threw myself upon her sword
Still I wish I could go back and save every shadow I once adored
So don’t tell me that – you know just what I really want to do
When I say that
I think the world of you

I never wanted to feel nothing, no
When I complained about the pain
But when you set a man on fire, love
He doesn’t try to stay out of the rain
I swear I never meant for what happened, but I let it happen anyway
Oh don’t tell me that – you know just what I really want to do
When I say that
I still think the world of you

I’ve been known to rewrite history
Don’t pretend you’ve not done the same
It’s better to remember some people
As they were before they changed
I only went to your mother’s funeral to place a jonquil on her grave
So please don’t tell me that – you know just what I really want to do
When I say that
I think the world of you

I still think the world of you
